Name of Activity: High school classroom presentations to students

Description of Activity: Through the Arizona Builders’ Alliance Craft Training and Apprenticeship Program, young people have golden opportunities to become qualified for good paying, secure jobs in the commercial construction industry. The need for skilled craft workers is critical. The average age of skilled craft workers in the United State is 54, and there are few trained people in the pipeline which means there will be a growing number of jobs available in the foreseeable future. Training to become a journeyman in electrical, plumbing, or heating, ventalation and air conditioning is available through the ABA Apprenticeship Program, which allows students to work on their jobs, pocket their paychecks and take college classes two evenings a week through Pima Community College. Journeyman status is awarded by the Arizona Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Labor to those who satisfactorily complete the four-year program.
